Death Planning
Death Planning should be anything but overwheealming.
Death is a social experience. Or, at least it should be. When we’re planning for death, we’re not simply thinking about ourselves and how we’d like to be honored once we pass. We are thinking about where we would like our belongings to find new homes, how we can help create a joyful goodbye for our loved ones before and after death, and the ways we might continue caring for our loved ones even in our absence. There are a lot of decisions to be made, incredible piles of legally binding paperwork to be completed, and often anticipatory grief to which we must tend and honor.
It can be difficult to ask for help when beginning the process. The last thing we want to do is trigger those closest to us by contemplating our passing. That’s why I’m here. Part of planning for your final, sacred rite of passage is inviting inviting others to join you - be it Liminal Showers, your attorney, your healthcare providers, or you family… death is a social experience.

Support With Death Documents
You do not want to wait until the last moment to start looking at paperwork. You have no options if you do not make decisions before it is too late. Being prepared with all of your essential documents is key to dying well. Not only will it offer peace of mind in knowing that your final wishes will be honored before, during, and after death; you will also be honoring your family and closest loved ones by eliminating potential, unnecessary conflict in making decisions they were not prepared to make.
Together we will review essential documents, explore additional documents to consider for your unique situation, and make sure that each document is legally binding and shared with all parties responsible for upholding your wishes. This processes does not have to be tedious. I promise to find ways to make it fun when appropriate, of course.
** Liminal Showers, LLC does not provide legal advice. All end-of-life documents should be reviewed by an attorney before being officially notarized for use.
Fundraising Support
Since the civil war, dying has become a multibillion dollar industry. The average funeral costs upwards of $8,000. As we talk about death planning, yes, we can prepare for that. We can certainly opt out of a larger celebration for a simple cremation and home gathering with potluck. Frankly, thank sounds just as lovely as any alternative. Still, cremation itself costs between $1,500-2,500 on average and that may still be out of reach.
You may be planning for your death and hoping not to burden loved ones with a bill for your body disposal and service wishes. You may be grappling with an unexpected loss that requires immediate funds outside of your financial abilities. Perhaps you wish to take a trip to scatter the ashes of a loved one lost long ago. No matter what the circumstance, you’d be surprised by the compassionate generosity of your community. We are surrounded by people filled with love who are eager to help within their means. Let me help you connect your story with the greater community for support. When you ask for support in honoring the dying, dead, and their loved ones, you also help advocate for the reclamation of death and the collective care of our beloved dying and dead.
I come with over a decade’s experience in personal, nonprofit, and family fundraising. In 2023, I raised over $300K for suicide prevention in under one month’s time. I have assisted loved ones in meeting their goals to fund sacred trips for scattering the ashes of their beloved dead, and others in raising funds to pay for medical bills and unexpected funerary or body dispositions fees. I have fully funded my own special projects through fundraising throughout my academic and professional career. In fact, I am honored to have funded this company startup by the generosity of donors, local professional grants, and state grants. I would love to utilize my fundraising expertise to help alleviate any financial burdens you are facing after, or in preparing for, loss.

Service Planning
Whether you want a religious funeral, simple memorial, living funeral, home service, or giant party to celebrate your life, organizing the event is essential. Not only is it essential, it is the most fun part of death planning. This is where we get to tap into your creativity - as much or as little as you would like.
As we plan your service together, we’ll begin with a budget. It’s important to make sure your service fits within your ideal budget, should you be leaving funds behind, or that we identify and confirm who will be responsible for payment. My job is to show up with all options between body disposition, to musicians, to reading selections, to theme and everything in between. We’ll plan a celebration of life that fits within budget, honors your belief system, and feels so “perfectly you.”
People say that celebrations of life are for the living. I believe they can be for the dying too. Death should be as sacred as birth and life. Your outgoing should be a nurtured and celebrated is your coming to be.
